Objects Sale

Every other semester we have a sale with a student run organization called Objects. This organization is for metals and sculpture majors, and helps organize and put out work as well as brings in artists for lectures, critiques, and workshops. This semester there will be a sale with the members of the organization that use discarded, overused, and valueless objects from our everyday lives. All of the work is to be wearable jewelry with the design and flare of each student. Being that I work in the wood shop the amount of scrape wood and plexiglass that come through here I find it only fitting that I attempt to use it. I have no exact plans as of yet what will come out of it, but there are always interesting and amazing pieces that are made by these people. When some photos come available I will get them up here.

Final Semester

I am finally back in school for my last semester and I have two projects that I will be working on that tie into my spherical body of work. One will be working with an insect/sea creature. The other pieces that I have made for this body presented preciousness with a silver rim placed upon each rim. I am looking to obscure that preciousness by moving and transforming the rim in different manners. I would like the second piece to do this as well, but due to time restraints it may only be possible to have one piece like that and the other be development of patination.

Semester Projects

I have been finally able to upload all of my pictures from the semesters work onto the slide show so check it out if you get the chance. i will try and have them each put up on the blog sometime soon with a little description on them, but if you want to see them bigger just click on the slide show and it will take you to all of my projects!!!

Work from Different Areas

I finally got some more work onto my slide show, and when I get the time I will be adding some of them for a larger view. The ones I have on there right now are from sculpture. I will try and get a little bit of information one each one when they get posted individually. I am also attempting to get my ceramic work on here as well. I also have just finish one of my forming series and will get those pictures online asap.

I was able to get some of my work that I made from the last semester, and finally have been able to get some of them in a slideshow at the top of the page. I am going to be documenting some of the other work that I have done in the past few years and putting them in as well for a bit more variety. I have to say that the hardest part of all the work is the documentation of each work, but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do!!!

Spherical Body

The current body of work that I am creating is based off of traditional forming and raising techniques used on metal. I will be taking flat circular sheets of metal and raise and form them into a sphere like shape. From that shape I will then take a look at ways to "finish" each piece. I find the spherical shape to be the most intriguing because to me it is the opposite of a flat sheet. The body of work is consisting of three pieces formed and enameled and three others that have been formed and finished with patination. There will be an attempt to have photos that reflect the process, but there will be pictures of all the pieces as they are finished. I should be finishing about one every week or so, so updates should be coming soon there after.
